About this series
His Name Is JohnLook at the four panels and you can feel the temperature drop. A waterfall falls through jungle green into a pale rose pool. A bird holds a wide wingspan against an empty sky. Dunes ripple under low cloud. Honeycomb glows warm gold at the far right. Halftone texture sits over everything, desaturating the color into muted rose and sage and giving the whole frame a printed, editorial weight. The Butler serif runs dark across the seam, small and lowercase for "his name is," then oversized for "John." It reads reverent rather than loud, the kind of image that quiets a room before anyone speaks.

The wilderness in these panels is the message territory. Luke 3:1-6 puts a voice in the desert calling people to prepare the way, and the artwork holds that tension: water and honey on the edges, sand and sky in the middle. You could preach humility and calling, repentance and conviction, the strange legacy of a man whose whole purpose was pointing away from himself. "He must increase, I must decrease" preaches straight off this layout, where the name is huge and the man behind it never appears.
