About this series

Fan or Follower

Look at the artwork and you are standing in the crowd. A stadium arch cuts across a sky full of storm clouds, lightning forks behind the roofline, and banks of floodlights burn white on both sides. The crowd in the foreground is a black and white silhouette, gritty and grainy, faces you cannot quite make out. Over it all, FAN OR FOLLOWER lands in bold condensed all caps, electric blue with a hard shadow, a thin blue streak underlining the words. Underneath, in quiet gray, sits the line about fans. On a big screen in a dark room, it feels like kickoff and like a question at the same time.

That tension is the message territory. Luke 9:23-24 asks for a daily decision, not a season ticket. Deny yourself, take up your cross, follow. The artwork sets up spectator faith on purpose: the packed house that cheers and goes home. From there a pastor can preach the cost of discipleship, the difference between a fan and a follower, surrender, or a straight call to get off the sidelines and into the game.

In a service, the 1:20 bumper carries the storm and the stadium lights into the room and hands off to the message. The title graphic holds the same type on screens through the teaching. Because these sermon series graphics ship in .mov and .mp4, you can drop the video into your presentation software or your service switcher without conversion on Saturday night.
