How to create a pre-experience

Table of Contents

Why have a pre-experience?

Many churches are new to broadcasting. Here are some quick tips to help you discover the purpose of a pre-experience and how you can make yours even better.

When broadcasting, there is a natural delay from when you hit the “Go Live” button, until a user logs on to watch your stream. Much like a call to worship. it’s important to give users a couple of minutes to access the stream and get situated.

Tip #1 // Have A Plan

1) How long will the pre-experience be?

2) What is the MAIN thing you’d like to communicate?

3) Is the church pushing an initiative that week?

4) Less is More

Tip #2 // Quality Is Key

1) Use Modern Graphics - Align with Current Trends

2) Use an Upbeat Soundtrack - Engages and Energizes

3) Use Lower Thirds - Names, Social Handles, and Calls To Action

4) Use Pro Services + Designers - Ensures your media is top-notch

Why is quality important?

We bring our best to God each week. Visitors online or in-person are bombarded with quality marketing every day. Visitors know how media “should look” and a potential distraction or pain point could be the quality of your designs. Don’t lose visitors because of bad “church” graphics.

Tip #3 // Don’t Get Stale

1) Keep graphics fresh, and relevant.

2) Update your graphics package at least once a quarter.

3) No two weeks should be exactly the same.

4) Update your soundtrack weekly.

Tip #4 // Include A Countdown

Set an expectation for when your experience will start with a countdown timer. The optimal countdown time is two minutes. Giving visitors enough time to log on to your stream while not being too long that visitors get bored before it’s over.
