Series Summary:
When Jesus was asked, “Who is my neighbor?” He didn’t give a definition — He told a story.
A story that shattered comfort zones, crossed boundaries, and redefined what love really looks like.
My Neighbor is a four–week journey into the heart of God for people — not just the people who look like us, vote like us, or worship like us — but the people God places right in front of us. Because the Kingdom doesn’t grow through convenience… it grows through compassion.
Theme Scripture:
Luke 10:25–37, Matthew 22:36–40, James 2:1
Week 1

Week 1 — “Who Is My Neighbor?”

Scripture: Luke 10:25–37, Matthew 22:36–40, James 2:1

Introduction

We love to ask the same question the lawyer asked Jesus:
“But who is my neighbor?”
Not because we want to love more people… but because we want to limit who we have to love.

Key Point Ideas

  • Love is the true measure of spiritual maturity

  • God doesn’t define neighbors by proximity — but by opportunity

  • The person in front of you is the assignment

  • Compassion is always inconvenient

Application

  • Start noticing people you normally ignore

  • Ask God to open your eyes to needs around you

  • Choose mercy over assumptions

Closing Thoughts

If God put them in your path, they’re not an interruption — they’re an invitation.

Week 2 — “Crossing the Street”

Scripture: Luke 10:33–34, Romans 12:18, Ephesians 2:14

Introduction

The Samaritan didn’t just feel sorry — he stopped, he crossed the road, and he got involved.

Real love always moves toward people, not away from them.

Key Point Ideas

  • Love is not passive — it is intentional

  • Fear keeps us on our side of the street

  • Grace breaks down walls that pride builds

  • God moves through willing hearts

Application

  • Identify someone you’ve avoided

  • Take one step toward reconciliation or kindness

  • Pray for courage to love beyond comfort

Closing Thoughts

The miracle didn’t happen on the safe side of the road.
It happened when someone dared to cross.

Week 3 — “Paying the Price”

Scripture: Luke 10:35, 1 John 3:16–18, Proverbs 19:17

Introduction

The Samaritan didn’t just care — he paid.
Love always costs something.

Key Point Ideas

  • Love without sacrifice is just sentiment

  • God uses generosity to heal broken lives

  • What you give becomes a seed of restoration

  • You can’t love without being inconvenienced

Application

  • Give time, attention, or resources to someone in need

  • Let God stretch your generosity

  • Choose people over possessions

Closing Thoughts

Every time you love someone sacrificially,
you reflect the heart of Jesus.

Week 4 — “Go and Do the Same”

Scripture: Luke 10:36–37, Matthew 5:14–16, Galatians 6:9

Introduction

Jesus didn’t end the story with inspiration — He ended it with instruction.
“Go and do the same.”

Key Point Ideas

  • The world doesn’t need more opinions — it needs more compassion

  • Your kindness can open hearts to God

  • Love is our greatest witness

  • One act of mercy can change a life

Application

  • Commit to one intentional act of love this week

  • Serve someone who can’t repay you

  • Be the hands and feet of Jesus

Closing Thoughts

You are someone’s neighbor.
Be the reason they believe God still cares.
