Seeing in the Spirit, colorful eye background
Series Summary:
This series will equip people to see through God’s eyes, grow in discernment, and focus on eternal realities. It’s about breaking free from spiritual blindness and stepping into supernatural vision.
Theme Scripture:
2 Kings 6:15-17
Week 1

Week 1: “Open My Eyes, Lord”

Main Idea: True spiritual vision begins when God opens our eyes to see beyond the natural and into the supernatural.

Introduction

•Have you ever stared at something and missed what was right in front of you?

•In 2 Kings 6:17, Elisha prayed for his servant’s eyes to be opened—and suddenly, he saw the army of God surrounding them!

•Spiritual blindness isn’t about closed eyes—it’s about closed hearts.

Key Points

1.We Need Spiritual Eyes to See God’s Reality (2 Kings 6:15-17) – Elisha’s servant saw only the enemy, but God’s army was there all along.

2.Faith Opens Our Spiritual Eyes (Hebrews 11:1) – Faith is seeing the unseen before it becomes reality.

3.Jesus Came to Restore Sight (Luke 4:18) – Healing the blind was a physical and spiritual mission—He wants to do the same for us.

Illustration Idea

Magic Eye Puzzle – Those 3D images where you have to adjust your vision to see the hidden picture—sometimes, we need to shift our focus to see what God is doing.

Application Challenge

•Pray daily: “Lord, open my eyes to see what You are doing in my life.”

Week 2: “Seeing What God Sees”

Main Idea: Spiritual vision requires us to stop looking through our own lens and start seeing things from God’s perspective.

Introduction

•We often judge by what we see, but God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).

•In Numbers 13, the Israelites saw giants and fear, but Joshua and Caleb saw opportunity and faith.

•What we see determines how we respond!

Key Points

1.God’s Vision is Higher than Ours (Isaiah 55:8-9) – His ways and thoughts are beyond human logic.

2.Fear Blinds, Faith Reveals (Numbers 13:30-33) – Ten spies saw defeat, but Caleb saw God’s promise.

3.God Sees Potential Where We See Problems (Judges 6:12) – Gideon saw himself as weak, but God called him a mighty warrior.

Illustration Idea

Optical Illusions – What you focus on changes what you see. Sometimes, we need to retrain our eyes to see what God sees.

Application Challenge

•Ask God to show you His perspective on the challenges you’re facing this week.

Week 3: “Discerning the Spirit”

Main Idea: Seeing in the Spirit is not just about vision—it’s about discernment. The Holy Spirit helps us distinguish between what is from God and what is not.

Introduction

•Not everything that looks right is right.

•In Acts 16:16-18, Paul discerned that a girl’s prophetic words weren’t from God, even though they sounded spiritual.

•We need spiritual discernment now more than ever.

Key Points

1.Spiritual Sight Requires Discernment (1 John 4:1) – Test the spirits to see whether they are from God.

2.The Holy Spirit is Our Guide (John 16:13) – He leads us into all truth.

3.Mature Believers See with Wisdom (Hebrews 5:14) – Discernment grows when we train our spiritual senses.

Illustration Idea

Counterfeit Money – Bank workers don’t study fakes; they study the real thing so they can spot the false. The more we immerse in God’s truth, the more we can discern what’s not from Him.

Application Challenge

•This week, before making decisions, pray: “Holy Spirit, show me what is really happening here.”

Week 4: “Fixing Our Eyes on the Unseen”

Main Idea: Spiritual vision isn’t about temporary circumstances—it’s about focusing on the eternal reality of God’s kingdom.

Introduction

•Peter walked on water as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus (Matthew 14:29-30).

•The enemy wants to distract us with worry, fear, and doubt.

•Where we fix our eyes determines our faith.

Key Points

1.Don’t Focus on the Storm, Focus on Jesus (Matthew 14:29-30) – The waves were real, but Jesus’ power was greater.

2.The Unseen is More Real Than the Seen (2 Corinthians 4:18) – Earthly things fade, but God’s kingdom is eternal.

3.Our Eyes Shape Our Heart (Matthew 6:22-23) – What we fix our eyes on fills our soul.

Illustration Idea

Binoculars vs. Telescope – Binoculars focus on what’s nearby, but a telescope sees what’s far off. We must set our spiritual eyes on eternal things.

Application Challenge

•This week, intentionally shift your focus from worry to worship, problems to promises, fear to faith.
