Harmful or Healthy abstract design with text
Series Summary:
Every day we’re faced with decisions, patterns, and pathways that either draw us closer to God or pull us away. Proverbs 14:12 reminds us that “there is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” This series unpacks how to discern between what is harmful and what is healthy in our faith, relationships, habits, and future. God calls us to live with wisdom and intentionality—choosing the way that leads to life.
Theme Scripture:
Proverbs 14:12
Week 1

Week 1: “The Right Way or the Wrong Turn?”

Text: Proverbs 14:12

Introduction:

Life is filled with choices. Some paths look appealing but end in destruction, while others, though narrow, lead to life. Discernment is not just about knowing what’s good or bad—it’s about knowing God’s way.

Key Points:

  • Some ways seem right but are deadly. (Proverbs 14:12)

  • God’s Word is the compass for the right path. (Psalm 119:105)

  • Jesus Himself is “the Way” that leads to life. (John 14:6)

Application:

This week, evaluate one area where you’ve been leaning on your own understanding. Ask God to show you whether it’s harmful or healthy, and commit to following His direction.

Closing Thoughts:

The difference between life and death is often just a choice away. Choose God’s way, even when it’s harder, and it will always lead you to life.

Week 2: “Habits That Heal or Habits That Harm”

Text: Galatians 6:7–9

Introduction:

Habits shape our destiny. Every decision we repeat either builds us up or breaks us down. Healthy habits plant seeds of life, while harmful ones sow destruction.

Key Points:

  • What you sow, you will reap. (Galatians 6:7)

  • Harmful habits drain spiritual strength. (Hebrews 12:1)

  • Healthy habits produce lasting fruit. (John 15:4–5)

Application:

Take inventory of your daily rhythms. Replace one harmful habit with a healthy one—prayer, scripture, or intentional relationships that push you closer to God.

Closing Thoughts:

You don’t drift into health—you decide it daily. Start sowing what’s healthy, and in due season you’ll reap the harvest of life.

Week 3: “Relationships: Toxic or Life-Giving?”

Text: Proverbs 13:20

Introduction:

The people around you shape the person you become. Some relationships lift you, others drain you. God calls us to walk with wisdom when it comes to who we align with.

Key Points:

  • Walk with the wise and grow wise. (Proverbs 13:20)

  • Toxic ties pull you away from God’s best. (1 Corinthians 15:33)

  • Life-giving relationships reflect Christ’s love. (John 13:34–35)

Application:

Evaluate your circle. Ask: do these people push me closer to Christ, or further away? Take one step this week to nurture a godly relationship and set a boundary where needed.

Closing Thoughts:

The right people bring out God’s best in you. Choose life-giving connections and watch your walk with God strengthen.

Week 4: “Future: Destructive or Destiny-Filled?”

Text: Jeremiah 29:11

Introduction:

God has a plan for your life. But not every path leads to His promise. When we trust Him with our future, He leads us away from destruction and into destiny.

Key Points:

  • God’s plans are for hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

  • Trusting your own plan leads to disappointment. (Proverbs 3:5–6)

  • Surrender unlocks God’s destiny for your life. (Ephesians 2:10)

Application:

This week, write down one dream or plan you’ve been holding tightly to. Pray over it, surrender it to God, and invite Him to align it with His will.

Closing Thoughts:

Your future is too important to gamble on your own wisdom. Trust God’s plan—it’s always healthier and always leads to life.
